AI Photo Booth for Photographers: How to Add AI Experiences to Your Business
By Pengyu AI Studio · · Updated 7 September 2026
How photographers and photobooth operators can add AI photo booth experiences using browser-based software, reusable AI presets, QR delivery, printing and a live event gallery.
AI photo booths have moved from novelty to a bookable line item. For photographers and photobooth operators, an AI photo booth is one of the few additions that uses the skills, hardware and client relationships you already have. This guide explains what an AI photo booth is, how it fits an existing business, and how the workflow runs end to end.
What is an AI photo booth?
An AI photo booth captures a guest photo at your stand and returns a styled AI portrait instead of a plain snapshot. The guest picks a look, the camera captures, and an AI model generates the final image within the event's chosen output size.
With browser-based AI photo booth software, the booth itself is simply a web link opened on the device at your stand. For a full background read, see our complete guide to AI photo booth software.
Why photographers are adding AI experiences
- A second revenue line at the same event. AI booth coverage can be quoted alongside your photography package.
- Differentiation. A styled AI portrait is a different deliverable from standard booth prints.
- Shareability. Guests receive images on their own phone, so the output travels beyond the venue.
- Reuse of existing kit. Tablets, stands, lighting and printers you already own can often be reused.
How AI complements an existing photography business
An AI booth does not replace coverage — it runs beside it. Your camera work stays the premium deliverable, while the booth handles guest entertainment during drinks, dinner or a brand activation. Operationally it can also be run by an assistant, because once the event is configured the guest flow is self-service.
Creating reusable AI experiences
In Pengyu AI Studio, an AI experience is a reusable preset: the styling instructions, the guest-facing name, and the AI model behind it. You build a preset once and assign it to any event.
- Presets you create stay private to your workspace.
- Released Pengyu Library presets are maintained centrally and available as starting points.
- Duplicating a library preset creates an independent copy you can edit freely.
- Where more than one production AI model is available, you choose which one an experience uses.
Running the booth through a web browser
The main booth experience is web-based, so there is no traditional application to install for the booth itself. Operators manage events, presets and branding from a dashboard; at the stand you open the booth link and lock the screen.
Hardware and compatibility
Pengyu AI Studio can operate on compatible Android touchscreen displays, kiosks and portable display stands from various manufacturers, as well as other browser-capable devices.
- A compatible browser, an internet connection and camera access are required.
- Android device performance, browser compatibility and camera support vary by model.
- Always test your specific device and browser before an event.
Guest photo capture
Guests see a full-screen camera preview in portrait or landscape, with a countdown, flash and instant retake before anything is sent for generation. The preview is designed so guests can clearly see their faces before capturing.
AI generation
Once a guest confirms their photo, the selected experience is generated server-side using the model attached to that preset. The final output size is controlled by the event's output format setting rather than the preset, so every image from an event is consistent.
QR delivery
When generation finishes, the result appears on the booth screen with a QR code. Scanning it opens a private result page on the guest's own phone, where they can view and download their image. There is no need to collect email addresses at the stand, and result links are time-limited by the platform's retention window.
Physical printing
Printing runs through the Print Agent architecture. Print-ready 4x6 and 2x6 layouts are rendered with the event's branding and queued by the platform, and a Print Agent you run on a machine at the event claims jobs and sends them to your printer. Per-guest print limits are enforced by the queue.
Live event gallery and display
Every event has a gallery of results, with moderation controls and downloads for individual images, a selection, or the full gallery as a delivery-quality export. You can also open a Live Display on a second browser-capable screen using a secure, revocable link, so recent images rotate on a monitor beside the booth.
Controlling AI generation costs
Each generation consumes credits at a rate set by the selected AI model, charged server-side so a busy booth cannot spend beyond the available balance. Failed generations are refunded automatically, and plans include a monthly credit allocation that rolls over. Usage and top-ups are visible in the dashboard — see plans and included credits.
How Pengyu AI Studio brings the workflow together
The value for a photography business is that event setup, AI experiences, guest capture, delivery, printing, gallery and cost control live in one place. You configure an event, choose your experiences, open the booth link on your device, and the rest of the night runs as a single flow.
